Story of the Wine:

Chianti is produced from vineyards between Florence and Siena in Tuscany, and the village of Radda in Chianti is at the heart of the region. Riserva wines are from a particularly good vintage and consequently are aged longer before release. This estate has been owned by the Beccari family since 1870 Odoardo Beccari was a world famous botanist who retired to the estate in 1876. Only a small part of this substantial estate has vineyards but they are undoubtedly the families pride and joy.

Grape(s): Sangiovese 90%, Merlot 10%
Area: All the grapes are from the estate’s vineyards around the village of Radda in Chianti
Av. age: Half are 30 years old and half are 7 years old
Density: 4,200 per ha.
Yield: 45 hl/ha
Training: Archetto toscano and Cordon Spur
Harvest: Late September to early October 10-15 days
Vinification: Fermented and macerated on their skins for 15 days. The malolactic fermentation is done in cement vats.
Ageing: It is aged for 12 months in second and third year oak barriques. It is then aged in cement vats for a further 12 months. It is then aged in bottle until released
