Story of the wine:

Centine is part of the new wave of wines to come out of Tuscany, particularly as a consequence of the updating of Italy’s wine regulations. It is a wine that blends the quintessentially Italian variety of Sangiovese with the international style of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The word Centine is the name of one of the old farmhouses on the Banfi estate.

Grape(s):  60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot
Area: About three quarters of wine is produced from grapes grown on the Banfi estate in Montalcino, Tuscany.
Density: Between 2,000 and 4,000.
Training: Cordon Spur
Yield: 50hl/ha
Harvest: Late September
Vinification: Fermented for between 6 and 9 days in stainless steel at 25-300C then a malolactic fermentation takes place.
Ageing: After fermentation the wine is aged for 2 months in French oak barrels,  none of which is new.

    southern Tuscany. This wine is the modern style with an eye on the
    traditions of the past; it is an exciting blend of Cabernet Sauvignon
    and Merlot with local Chianti grape variety, Sangiovese. A lovely
    medium weight red wine with plenty of fruit and a firm, dry finish on
    the palate.
